Mbale Network of Young People Living with HIV/AIDS (MNYPA)
Youth-led hope and opportunity in Eastern Uganda
MNYPA is a youth-led network in Mbale, Eastern Uganda, co-founded in 2017 by Gloria Clara Nekesa. It gives young people living with or affected by HIV a safe space to share experiences, support one another, access information and services, and have their voices heard in the decisions that shape their lives. Its work spans community-led health monitoring, HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health, menstrual hygiene and youth leadership, alongside partners such as TASO and the Global Fund. Gloria also runs a small social enterprise that teaches young women practical skills, like making liquid soap and shampoo, while building confidence and financial independence. Her dream is a Youth Livelihood and Empowerment Hub where every young person, including those living with HIV or disabilities, can learn, earn and thrive.
